jicama, ginger, cardoon

This lust-worthy new collection from Heath Ceramics needs to be seen in person to appreciate the subtle use of color (achieved with natural oxides) and it's organic simplicity of handcrafted form. A collaboration between Heath Ceramics, Alice Walters of Chez Panisse and Christina Kim of Dosa, these handcrafted pieces draw inspiration from classic restaurant ware and traditional French pottery.

Heath Ceramics is one of the few remaining mid-century American potteries still in existence today. Edith Heath founded the company in the mid-forties. In 2003, husband-and-wife design duo, Robin Petravic and Catherine Bailey purchased Heath Ceramics (Edith Heath died in 2005) and revived it. Heath Ceramics preserve authentic artisinal craft, and stress environmentally friendly techniques in their manufacturing process. Catherine describes her style as practical and casual, but obsessed with details and aesthetics, often referencing the past. Amen.
