The inspiration for Hartford, now based in France, was born in New York City in 1979. Yves Chareton had the idea of recreating vintage mens shirts from the 50's similar to the ones he could find in the Parisian flea markets. Thanks to a manufacturer who believed in his vision, Yves was able to launch the collection, which became an instant success. In 2000, convinced by customers and fashion journalists, Yves went on to launch a women's collection as well as a line for kids.
With his eye for refined prints and the harmonious mixing of fabrics, Yves is still inspired by the modern reinvention of classic styles, and the collection is contemporary and stylish, without being "trendy."
